repealedPunishment for robbery
Whoever commits robbery shall be punished with rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine; and, if the robbery be committed on the highway between sunset and sunrise, the imprisonment may be extended to fourteen years.

ही तरतूद दरोड्याबाबतची सर्वसाधारण शिक्षा ठरवते आणि रात्री महामार्गावर घडलेल्या दरोड्यांसाठी अधिक कडक कमाल शिक्षा देऊन प्रवाशांची अंधारानंतर सार्वजनिक रस्त्यांवर मदत दूर असण्याची असुरक्षितता लक्षात घेते. रात्रीच्या महामार्गावरील दरोड्याला ऐतिहासिकदृष्ट्या विशेष धोकादायक मानले गेले आहे, कारण पीडित व्यक्ती अनेकदा एकाकी असतात आणि तत्काळ मदत मागणे कठीण होते. अशाच रचनेची दरोड्याची शिक्षा, अधिक तीव्र परिस्थितीत वाढीव दंडात्मकता ठेवून, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 अंतर्गत सुरू आहे; हिने 2024 मध्ये Indian Penal Code याची जागा घेतली.
