Appeal against conviction by High Court in certain cases
Where the High Court has, on appeal, reversed an order of acquittal of an accused person and convicted him and sentenced him to death or to imprisonment for life or to imprisonment for a term of ten years or more, he may appeal to the Supreme Court.

हायकोर्टाने निर्दोष मुक्ततेचे रूपांतर गंभीर दोषसिद्धी आणि कठोर शिक्षेत केले असता, अपील स्तरावरच त्या व्यक्तीविरुद्ध प्रथमच दोष ठरतो; परिणाम गंभीर असतात आणि त्या ठरावावर यापूर्वी कोणताही अपीलपर तपास झालेला नसतो. म्हणूनच हा विभाग अशा मोठ्या उलटफेरीला अंतिम ठरू देत नाही; व्यक्तीस त्यांच्या नव्याने बदललेल्या कायदेशीर स्थितीच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर सर्वोच्च न्यायालयात अजून एका स्तरावर पुनरावलोकनाची संधी देतो. हे CrPC, 1973 मधील कलम 379 पुढे चालू ठेवते.
