Power of State Government to empower officer in charge to discharge
The State Government may empower the officer in charge of the jail in which a person is confined under the provisions of section 369 or section 374 to discharge all or any of the functions of the Inspector-General of Prisons under section 376 or section 377.

मन:अस्वस्थतेमुळे ताब्यात ठेवलेल्या व्यक्तींच्या प्रमाणीकरण व सुटकेची प्रक्रिया सामान्यतः वरिष्ठ कारागृह अधिकाऱ्यांमार्गे चालते; परंतु लहान कारागृहांमध्ये त्यामुळे विलंब होऊ शकतो. हा विभाग त्या विशिष्ट कार्यांचा अधिकार स्थानिक प्रभारी अधिकाऱ्याकडे सुपूर्त करण्यास राज्य सरकारला परवानगी देतो, ज्यामुळे प्रणाली व्यवहार्य राहते आणि ताब्यातील व्यक्तीसाठी असलेल्या हमी दुर्बल न होता टिकून राहतात.
