Section 486
Declaration by sureties
Every person standing surety to an accused person for his release on bail, shall make a declaration before the Court as to the number of persons to whom he has stood surety including the accused, giving therein all the relevant particulars.
Why this exists
This prevents a single person from secretly acting as surety for many different accused persons across multiple cases without the court's knowledge, which could spread their real financial or personal backing too thin to be meaningful and quietly undermine the purpose of requiring a surety in the first place.
